Our powerlifting plates are calibrated which means they are manufactured to very tight weight tolerances, specifically ±10 grams (about the weight of two US Nickels). This ensures their accuracy which is important to those who are in training and competition settings.

What is the process of calibrating plates?

A lead block inside brass plugs are inserted into a designated hole on the inside of the plate to precisely adjust the weight. This process ensures accurate and reliable weight measurements for fair competition and effective training.

Will these calibrated steel plates fit my 2” barbell?

Yes, the collar opening on these plates is 50.4mm which will fit a 2" Olympic barbell. Keep in mind, they may not fit cheap barbells where the sleeve is not 2".

Should calibrated steel plates be dropped?

No. These plates should not be dropped intentionally. Dropping these type of plates can not only damage the plates but also your floors. Powerlifting emphasizes technique and controlled lowering of the barbell.

What are some powerlifting exercises that I can do with these plates?

Squat, bench press, and deadlift. They can also be used in overhead presses, barbell rows, and more.

Why is there paint on my barbell after sliding the steel plate loading and unloading my plates?

Those these are powder coated, you should expect this due to the steel to steel contact. This can be wiped off the bar.
